Fact

The life expectancy of a street homeless person is 42 years old compared with 74 for men and 79 for women. Our GPs believe this average is falling.

Health Clinic

The first dry house was a four bedroomed house owned by the Koinonia Trustand managed on their behalf by GEAR Projects.

It provided a drug free, alcohol free environment designated for recovering street drug addicts or alcoholics who had been associated with the GEAR Projects.

Length of stay is up to nine months after which the person would be equipped to follow a housing career of their own initially supported by GEAR.

In July 2006 the Koinonia Trust will complette the purchase of another which GEAR will be managing.

It wil be a similar project to the first one which we believe is a model tha could be replicated elsewhere.
